Non c’è un’altra Terra (There Is No Other Earth) is a photographic series created by Carpe Diem Holistic and presented in Italy as part of the collective exhibition Terra. Atto I, organised by the art collective “LiberArte Perugia”.

Created in the cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico, the series explores the relationship between the human body and the natural world through water, rock, light and movement. Cenotes are natural sinkholes and underground freshwater systems that open into the limestone landscape, creating extraordinary spaces where different elements and dimensions seem to meet.

This series uses a palette of earthy and green hues, the colours of our living planet: vegetation, minerals, water and soil. Beneath the surface, the cenotes can appear almost otherworldly: mysterious landscapes that might belong to another planet.

Yet, this is our planet.

These places are here, on Earth, waiting to be discovered, experienced and protected.

The human figure moves through this environment not as an outsider, but as part of it. The descent into the water becomes both a physical and an inner journey: an invitation to slow down, reconnect with our surroundings and remember the profound interdependence between ourselves and the natural world.

At a time when the pursuit of progress can easily distance us from the ecosystems that sustain us, the series is a reminder that there is no second Earth. Water, rock, air, soil, light and living beings are not separate from us: they are part of the same system, and ultimately, part of who we are.

For us, creating images is also a way of cultivating awareness. Through photography, underwater movement and a close relationship with the environments we enter, we seek to inspire curiosity, wonder and a deeper sense of responsibility towards the planet we inhabit.

All the images were created in apnea, without scuba equipment, artificial light or digital manipulation. In this series, Chiara is the underwater performer, while Gastón works behind the camera; together, they conceive, direct and create each image as part of their ongoing artistic practice through Carpe Diem Holistic.
