The Baja Experience: A Journey of Wild Encounters & Inner Awakening

The 2025 Retreat team and guests, including our local collaborator Maria Salinas and the local captains.

In May 2025, a vibrant group of nature enthusiasts joined us in Baja California Sur for something more than a retreat: they stepped into a lucid dream made of desert landscapes, inhabited islands and densely populated waters.

“The Baja Experience” was born from a vision: to weave together the raw beauty of Baja’s nature with space for inner reflection, creative freedom, and deep connection. And what unfolded across this week was beyond what any of us could have imagined.

Nature in Her Most Majestic Form

We swam with shivers of with mobula rays, their wings flickering like silver sparks in the water.
We watched orcas rise from the deep to hunt turtles in front of us — majestic, powerful, and breath-taking.

We freedived with playful sea lions and amongst big schools of fish.

Whales came close to our boat, dolphins rode our bow, a whaleshark made its appearance nearby... the Gulf of California shared its wonders, again and again.

But Baja isn't just ocean. The desert called too — and we answered.

We wandered through cactus forests, followed dusty trails to watch saltwater kiss the sand as the violet light of sunset melted into night — and then, beneath a canopy of stars, we gathered in awe around the warmth of a beach bonfire for a native tea ceremony and a guided meditation accompanied by live music. The contrast between dry desert heat and cool marine breeze became a rhythm we lived by.

A Space to Be

Amid these grand encounters, something quieter was also unfolding:
We gathered in circles. We journaled. We created.
Each day we practiced yoga, movement, or breathwork.

We painted, wrote, or simply watched the light shift across the bay from our accommodation.
In a world that moves fast, we slowed down — and remembered how to feel, how to express, how to listen.

Culture, Taste, and Human Connection

We didn’t just visit Baja: we met her culture.
We liaised with former shark fishermen who have now become eco-tourism captains; we listened to their stories and got to know them before we embarked on daily sea safaris on their boats.

We tasted the region’s authentic flavors thanks to our private Chef Olga (check out her Instagram for yummy inspiration).

And mostly, we deepened our understanding of the region’s unique flora and fauna, thanks to the local knowledge of our friend and small tour operator Maria Salinas Adventures (here’s her website and the page where she talks about the local ex shark fishermen and how supporting them can help create a more sustainable tourism in Baja Sur: Local captains: former fishermen - Maria Salinas Adventures).
We listened. We laughed. We were welcomed — and we’re deeply grateful for that.

Every Color, Every Voice

The retreat became a mosaic of different energies — soft and wild, joyful and reflective.
Everyone brought something, everyone received something.
Art was made. Friendships were born. Lives were gently, meaningfully shifted.

And we’re doing it again!
